Caliphate, for a change?

changeObama’s recursive focus on War on Terror in Afghanistan, and the new name of ‘Afpak’ by which this region’s theatre of war is being referred to as goes to show a clear sinister plan. The name itself clarifies, that the understanding of the two nations (Pakistan and Afghanistan) is no longer as separate independent entities, but as one.

With over 8 years in Afghanistan, the US has clearly recognised, that it’s Afghan venture cannot be a success, unless it contain and curbs the Pushtun resistance. It is for this reason, that the US is orchestrating its plan of encircling the Pushtun resistance from both sides. This is further fortified by the recent statement of US Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr to Obama, in which he advises shift in Afghan policy, towards concentrating on strikes within Pakistan. If we contemplate over where we went wrong, we can see that the notions of supporting America’s war based on ‘Pakistan First’ policy has failed miserably. Both the dictatorial and democratic rulers have bowed down to every request of US, to an extent of even engaging the army in such a way that it fits in with the greater designs the US has for this region.

Given the dire situation, it is about time that our Army takes a stand and rolls back its cooperation with the US, in its failing war on terror; and also quickly move to put an end to US bases in the region, which are a source of sheer unrest and mayhem. However, such a move requires a revolutionary change in our political setup: i.e. removal of the present system – both democracy and dictatorship (which keeps us dependent on the West), and revival of Caliphate – a system that stems from Islam. In present critical times, we may take inspiration from the great Islamic generals such as Khalid ibn al-Walid (ra); who wrote a letter (in 633 CE) to the Persians, saying: “Become Muslim and be saved. If not, accept protection from us and pay the Jizya. If not, I shall come against you with men who love death as you love to drink wine”.

As a civilian, I yearn and crave for the day we will see such display of grandeur and bravery that the generals of Islamic armies once enjoyed under the Caliphate.

    Brief and to the point.
    Excellent article.
Each one of us will have to play our part in making this happen.
And I think the first step towards Caliphate is to make this land free of those who impose a threat to it, Black water and other private security agencies that are backed by anti Pakistan elements.
We must, at least, protest against them and against the artificially manufactured situation of terror.
