Iqbal Day Special: From Iqbal’s Dream to Takmeel-é-Pakistan

Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal envisioned a sovereign and independent state for the Muslims of Sub-continent. A state where Islamic teachings will establish the core ideology, a way of life and socio-politico-economic system, practiced as the true religion and celebrated as the ideal way of life. His vision was not merely a dream rather it was a divine invocation, an order from the spiritual domain, which was destined, to be executed, which already had Almighty’s approval, which He brought into existence for a special purpose.
The personality appointed by Almighty to propagate the underlying ideology, which ultimately laid the foundation of Pakistan, was Allama Iqbal. He was more than a scholar, more than a philosopher, more than a saint and much more than a visionary. We cannot attempt to sum up in one article what this legend really was, since he himself once said, “Iqbal himself isn’t aware of what Iqbal really is”. What we know and should always remember is that he was the one who ignited the spark of self-awareness in the Muslims of Sub-continent, who infused the passion to acquire freedom and independence in the blood of Muslim youth of the time. He was who unveiled the true meaning and spirit of Islam and hope in the otherwise pessimistic minority.
“Kia ajab meri nawa-haaye sahar gaahi say
Zinda ho jaye woh aatish kai teri khaak mein hai”
Allama Iqbal uplifted the spirits of Muslims at the time of great misery and darkness. At a time when the nexus of Hindus and the British rulers was leaving no stone unturned to damage Muslims, deploying all the resources and means to malign the Muslim identity and exerting full force to crush them as an ideological nation. The deceitful British rulers had no intention of doing any good to Muslims and instead they connived with Hindus to throw the Muslim nation in front of the Hindu scavengers as a helpless prey.
Allama Iqbal’s poetry was the divine voice from the sky that was channelized through Iqbal’s soul, it came as the true reflection of the message of Islam. The incredible message that revitalized the uncivilized Arabs, the message that triggered burning passion in the hearts of the Muslims of Sub-continent, infusing them with paramount courage. Allama Iqbal was most certainly the chosen one who was assigned the duty to rejuvenate the nation and to convey the glad tidings about the creation of Pakistan as a Muslim State.
He made Muslims realize, what they actually are, what their true stature is and that they shouldn’t be overwhelmed by any kind of complex, fear and frustration:
He imparted the message of hope and belief, the message of oneness of the Muslim nation and gathered the confused, scared and scattered Muslims on a single platform:
“Millat kai saath raabta istawaar rakh
Paywasta reh shajar say umeed-e-bahar rakh”
“Fard qaim rabt-e-millat say hai tanha kuch nahin
Mauj hai darya mein bayroon-e-darya kuch nahin”
He likened Muslim youngsters with “Shaheen” (Falcon) and gave them the inspiration to have the vision, the flight, the character and the attitude of a Falcon. He established that this character and attitude would actually enable them to reach their destiny, to achieve what they deserve and to regain their lost glory.
“Tu Shaheen hai Parwaaz hai kaam tera
Tere saamnay aasmaan aur bhi hai”
“Nahin tera nasheman qasr-e-sultani kai gumbad par
Tu Shaheen hai basera kar pahaarhoon ki chatanon mein”
Iqbal then led the Muslims towards even broader scope and higher goal. He was a visionary, an ideologue and a foreseer, He saw it long ago that the Islamic empire will be resurrected yet again, no matter what happens, no matter how adverse would apparently be the conditions for Muslims, no matter what the elite of the world plans, he had his faith in just one fact that Allah is the best of all planners. He was convinced that the Almighty has decided for this nation to rise again and this time it will be in the true spirit of Islam.
He further saw, even before the creation of Pakistan that the Muslims of this Islamic state to be established in the sub-continent will ultimately lead this rise of Islam. It is their destiny and a duty that has been assigned to this nation. With his poetry, Iqbal unveiled this word and also urged Muslims to be prepared for it, get ready for it and to work towards achieving it:
“Sabaq phir parh, Sadaqat ka, Adalat ka, Shuja’at ka
Lia jaye ga tujh say kaam dunia kia imaamat ka”
“Yaqeen afraad ka sarmaaya-e-tameer-e-millat hai
Yehi qoowat hai jo soorat gar-e-taqdeer-e-millat hai”
At one point, Pakistan Movement was surrounded by total frustration and despair. Muhammad Ali Jinnah was so disheartened that he flew to London and settled there leaving everything behind. It was Allama Iqbal who gave him the spiritual inspiration that he needed and brought him back. It was Iqbal’s spiritual support and presence in the background, which transformed Muhammad Ali Jinnah into Quaid-e-Azam.
Allama Iqbal left this world in 1938, about 9 years before Pakistan’s creation, but his poetry had already set the Muslim souls on fire and ignited burning flames of love in the hearts and complete devotion to achieve the impossible, do the unthinkable.
Pakistan resolution was passed in Lahore in 1940 and an independent, sovereign state for the Muslims of Sub-continent came into being on August 14, 1947. It was just 17 years after Iqbal dreamt about it and transfused the vision in Muslims. Almighty blessed us with the gift of Pakistan where Muslims could live with peace, harmony and freedom and practice the religion of Islam in its true sense.
Unfortunately, Iqbal’s dream was only partially realized ever since independence. We were blessed with a sacred Islamic state but we converted into a mere piece of land. Since the time of its inception till today, we have been unable to take Pakistan to the heights it deserved; we couldn’t make it the fortress of Islam. We hadn’t established the systems on the basis of Islamic teachings, and as a result, Pakistan ended up as a state with injustice, conflicts, economic and social problems, resource misuse and mismanagement, corrupt leaders and bad governance.
Pakistan was hence created but never completed or ‘realized’. The people of Pakistan have been waiting for a time when the dreams that were seen at the time of its creation, will come true. They have been waiting for a system that would facilitate them, an environment that will liberate them from their troubles and desolation.
That wait is about to be over! The winds of change have already started to blow. The scenario is changing and the dynamics of the state are taking the right direction! The Shaheens of Iqbal have finally awakened. They have realized what went wrong with their country and how to correct it. They have understood what Pakistan was meant to be and what the traitors and disloyal people along with their foreign masters are trying to transform it into. The youth of Pakistan is now recognizing, why our enemies fear Pakistan and why they want to destabilize it. They are afraid of the potential of the Muslims of Pakistan, but ultimately they are scared of its destiny.
Very close to his last days, Iqbal wrote his masterpiece “Iblees ki Majlis-e-Shura” (Devil’s Executive Meeting) (read full at bottom). He said:
ہے اگر مجھ کو خطر کوئی تو اس امت سے ہے
جس کی خاکستر میں ہے اب تک شرار آرزو
“Hai Khatar koi mujh ko to is ummat say hai
Jis ki khaakister mein hai ab tuk Sharaar-e-Aarzoo”
عصر حاضر کے تقاضاؤں سے ہے لیکن یہ خوف
ہو نہ جائے آشکارا شرع پیغمبر کہیں
“Asr-e-haazir kai taqazaaon say hai lekin yeh khuaf
Ho na jaye aashkaara Shar’a-e-Paighambar kaheen”

All sorts of efforts are being made and conspiracies have been crafted to curb the potential of Pakistan. But as Iqbal predicted, a wave of self-realization is propagating across the country. Despite all the frustration, problems, evil designs of both internal and external elements, the awakening is happening.
“Millat-e-Bayza ki phir sheeraza bandee hai
Shakh-e-Hashmi karnay ko hai phir barg-e-bar paida”
“Ata momin ko phir dargah-e-haq say honay wala hai
Shikoh-e-Turkamani, zehen-e-Hindi, nutq-e-Araabi”
We, the youth of Pakistan are now geared up with all our passion to realize the unfulfilled part of Iqbal’s dream. We now stand together to serve, build, protect and defend our beloved Pakistan. Our elders brought Pakistan into existence by Allah’s will after countless sacrifices and we are also ready to shed our lives for our country if need be.
On this day, we promise Hakeem-ul-Ummat, our spiritual leader, guide and mentor, Allama Iqbal, that we’ll bring his mission to accomplishment. We will do anything to take Pakistan to its destiny. We will do what we can to put in place the system the ideology on the basis of which Pakistan was created. We’ll put in all efforts to bring justice, peace, harmony and prosperity to our beloved land in accordance with our religious teachings.
We promise that we will prepare Pakistan to take up its fated role in the world and we will Insha’Allah take Pakistan towards its ultimate Takmeel.
“Aflaak say ata hai naaloon ka jawaab aakhir
Kartay hein khitaab aakhir, uthtay hein hijaab aakhir
Mein tujh ko batata hoon taqdeer-e-umam kia hai
Shamsheer-o-sinaa awwal, Taoos-o-rabaab aakhir
Khilwat ki gharhee guzree, jalwat ki gharheee ayee
Chhutnay ko hai bujli say aaghosh-e-sahaab aakhir”
Iqbal’s prayer for the youth of Pakistan:
Jawaanoon ko meri aah-e-sahar dey
Phir in Shaheen bachchoon ko baal-o-par dey
Khudaya! aarzoo meri yehi hai
Mera noor-e-baseerat aam kar dey
Pakistan Zinda-o-Paindabaad…

یہ عناصر کا پرانا کھیل، یہ دنیائے دوں
ساکنان عرش اعظم کی تمناؤں کا خوں!
اس کی بربادی پہ آج آمادہ ہے وہ کارساز
جس نے اس کا نام رکھا تھا جہان کاف و نوں
میں نے دکھلایا فرنگی کو ملوکیت کا خواب
میں نے توڑا مسجد و دیر و کلیسا کا فسوں
میں نے ناداروں کو سکھلایا سبق تقدیر کا
میں نے منعم کو دیا سرمایہ داری کا جنوں
کون کر سکتا ہے اس کی آتش سوزاں کو سرد
جس کے ہنگاموں میں ہو ابلیس کا سوز دروں
جس کی شاخیں ہوں ہماری آبیاری سے بلند
کون کر سکتا ہے اس نخل کہن کو سرنگوں!
:پہلا مشیر
اس میں کیا شک ہے کہ محکم ہے یہ ابلیسی نظام
پختہ تر اس سے ہوئے خوئے غلامی میں عوام
ہے ازل سے ان غریبوں کے مقدر میں سجود
ان کی فطرت کا تقاضا ہے نماز بے قیام
آرزو اول تو پیدا ہو نہیں سکتی کہیں
ہو کہیں پیدا تو مر جاتی ہے یا رہتی ہے خام
یہ ہماری سعی پیہم کی کرامت ہے کہ آج
صوفی و ملا ملوکیت کے بندے ہیں تمام
طبع مشرق کے لیے موزوں یہی افیون تھی
ورنہ قوالی سے کچھ کم تر نہیں علم کلام!
ہے طواف و حج کا ہنگامہ اگر باقی تو کیا
کند ہو کر رہ گئی مومن کی تیغ بے نیام
کس کی نومیدی پہ حجت ہے یہ فرمان جدید؟
ہے جہاد اس دور میں مرد مسلماں پر حرام!
:دوسرا مشیر

خیر ہے سلطانی جمہور کا غوغا کہ شر
تو جہاں کے تازہ فتنوں سے نہیں ہے با خبر!
:پہلا مشیر
ہوں، مگر میری جہاں بینی بتاتی ہے مجھے
جو ملوکیت کا اک پردہ ہو، کیا اس سے خطر!
ہم نے خود شاہی کو پہنایا ہے جمہوری لباس
جب ذرا آدم ہوا ہے خود شناس و خود نگر
کاروبار شہریاری کی حقیقت اور ہے
یہ وجود میر و سلطاں پر نہیں ہے منحصر
مجلس ملت ہو یا پرویز کا دربار ہو
ہے وہ سلطاں، غیر کی کھیتی پہ ہو جس کی نظر
تو نے کیا دیکھا نہیں مغرب کا جمہوری نظام
چہرہ روشن، اندروں چنگیز سے تاریک تر!
:تیسرا مشیر
روح سلطانی رہے باقی تو پھر کیا اضطراب
ہے مگر کیا اس یہودی کی شرارت کا جواب؟
وہ کلیم بے تجلی، وہ مسیح بے صلیب
نیست پیغمبر و لیکن در بغل دارد کتاب
کیا بتاؤں کیا ہے کافر کی نگاہ پردہ سوز
مشرق و مغرب کی قوموں کے لیے روز حساب!
اس سے بڑھ کر اور کیا ہوگا طبیعت کا فساد
توڑ دی بندوں نے آقاؤں کے خیموں کی طناب!
:چوتھا مشیر
توڑ اس کا رومہ الکبرے کے ایوانوں میں دیکھ
آل سیزر کو دکھایا ہم نے پھر سیزر کا خواب
کون بحر روم کی موجوں سے ہے لپٹا ہوا
گاہ بالد چوں صنوبر، گاہ نالد چوں رباب،
:تیسرا مشیر
میں تو اس کی عاقبت بینی کا کچھ قائل نہیں
جس نے افرنگی سیاست کو کیا یوں بے حجاب
پانچواں مشیر
:ابلیس کو مخاطب کرکے
اے ترے سوز نفس سے کار عالم استوار!
تو نے جب چاہا، کیا ہر پردگی کو آشکار
آب و گل تیری حرارت سے جہان سوز و ساز
ابلہ جنت تری تعلیم سے دانائے کار
تجھ سے بڑھ کر فطرت آدم کا وہ محرم نہیں
سادہ دل بندوں میں جو مشہور ہے پروردگار
کام تھا جن کا فقط تقدیس و تسبیح و طواف
تیری غیرت سے ابد تک سرنگون و شرمسار
گرچہ ہیں تیرے مرید افرنگ کے ساحر تمام
اب مجھے ان کی فراست پر نہیں ہے اعتبار
وہ یہودی فتنہ گر، وہ روح مزدک کا بروز
ہر قبا ہونے کو ہے اس کے جنوں سے تار تار
زاغ دشتی ہو رہا ہے ہمسر شاہین و چرغ
کتنی سرعت سے بدلتا ہے مزاج روزگار
چھا گئی آشفتہ ہو کر وسعت افلاک پر
جس کو نادانی سے ہم سمجھے تھے اک مشت غبار
فتنہء فردا کی ہیبت کا یہ عالم ہے کہ آج
کانپتے ہیں کوہسار و مرغزار و جوئبار
میرے آقا! وہ جہاں زیر و زبر ہونے کو ہے
جس جہاں کا ہے فقط تیری سیادت پر مدار
ابلیس
:اپنے مشیروں سے
ہے مرے دست تصرف میں جہان رنگ و بو
کیا زمیں، کیا مہر و مہ، کیا آسمان تو بتو
دیکھ لیں گے اپنی آنکھوں سے تماشا غرب و شرق
میں نے جب گرما دیا اقوام یورپ کا لہو
کیا امامان سیاست، کیا کلیسا کے شیوخ
سب کو دیوانہ بنا سکتی ہے میری ایک ہو
کارگاہ شیشہ جو ناداں سمجھتا ہے اسے
توڑ کر دیکھے تو اس تہذیب کے جام و سبو!
دست فطرت نے کیا ہے جن گریبانوں کو چاک
مزدکی منطق کی سوزن سے نہیں ہوتے رفو
کب ڈرا سکتے ہیں مجھ کو اشتراکی کوچہ گرد
یہ پریشاں روزگار، آشفتہ مغز، آشفتہ مو
ہے اگر مجھ کو خطر کوئی تو اس امت سے ہے
جس کی خاکستر میں ہے اب تک شرار آرزو
خال خال اس قوم میں اب تک نظر آتے ہیں وہ
کرتے ہیں اشک سحر گاہی سے جو ظالم وضو
جانتا ہے، جس پہ روشن باطن ایام ہے
مزدکیت فتنہ فردا نہیں، اسلام ہے!
جانتا ہوں میں یہ امت حامل قرآں نہیں
ہے وہی سرمایہ داری بندہ مومن کا دیں
جانتا ہوں میں کہ مشرق کی اندھیری رات میں
بے ید بیضا ہے پیران حرم کی آستیں
عصر حاضر کے تقاضاؤں سے ہے لیکن یہ خوف
ہو نہ جائے آشکارا شرع پیغمبر کہیں
الحذر! آئین پیغمبر سے سو بار الحذر
حافظ ناموس زن، مرد آزما، مرد آفریں
موت کا پیغام ہر نوع غلامی کے لیے
نے کوئی فغفور و خاقاں، نے فقیر رہ نشیں
کرتا ہے دولت کو ہر آلودگی سے پاک صاف
منعموں کو مال و دولت کا بناتا ہے امیں
اس سے بڑھ کر اور کیا فکر و عمل کا انقلاب
پادشاہوں کی نہیں، اللہ کی ہے یہ زمیں!
چشم عالم سے رہے پوشیدہ یہ آئیں تو خوب
یہ غنیمت ہے کہ خود مومن ہے محروم یقیں
ہے یہی بہتر الہیات میں الجھا رہے
یہ کتاب اللہ کی تاویلات میں الجھا رہے
توڑ ڈالیں جس کی تکبیریں طلسم شش جہات
ہو نہ روشن اس خدا اندیش کی تاریک رات
ابن مریم مر گیا یا زندہ جاوید ہے
ہیں صفات ذات حق، حق سے جدا یا عین ذات؟
آنے والے سے مسیح ناصری مقصود ہے
یا مجدد، جس میں ہوں فرزند مریم کے صفات؟
ہیں کلام اللہ کے الفاظ حادث یا قدیم
امت مرحوم کی ہے کس عقیدے میں نجات؟
کیا مسلماں کے لیے کافی نہیں اس دور میں
یہ الہیات کے ترشے ہوئے لات و منات؟
تم اسے بیگانہ رکھو عالم کردار سے
تا بساط زندگی میں اس کے سب مہرے ہوں مات
خیر اسی میں ہے، قیامت تک رہے مومن غلام
چھوڑ کر اوروں کی خاطر یہ جہان بے ثبات
ہے وہی شعر و تصوف اس کے حق میں خوب تر
جو چھپا دے اس کی آنکھوں سے تماشائے حیات
ہر نفس ڈرتا ہوں اس امت کی بیداری سے میں
ہے حقیقت جس کے دیں کی احتساب کائنات
مست رکھو ذکر و فکر صبحگاہی میں اسے
پختہ تر کر دو مزاج خانقاہی میں اسے

How many Muslims live in India today? Probably More than in Pakistan. What Pakistan did with Bengali Muslims? How Mr. Iqbal think of Muslim state Just for sub continent Muslim when Islamic ideology believe that all Muslim are one, having no geographical boundaries between, why he did not think of Iran Muslims and Afghanistan Muslim. So why Pakistan is today occupying on other people’s land on the name of Islam, when it could not have kept its Muslim eastern part, raped their women and massacred the generations. Well this dream is noble but not inclusive as it only speaks about sub-continent Muslim, not of all. Furthermore let me remind you, Baluchistan was not sub-continent. Even dream envisioned by ALLAM IQBAL excludes Baluchistan, then how come today Pakistan is saying Baluchistan as part of it? It is non sense in true terms.

I am very sympathetic to your feelings and your Baloch brethren. But the thing is that not only Balochistan, the whole of Pakistan HATES the so called “leaders” of this nation. And it is only and only because of them that the whole nation is suffering, especially Baluchistan.
Let me tell you that Iqbal envision Baluchistan, N.W.F.P and Punjab to have been a Muslim country. There was no Sindh or Kashmir.
Iqbal directed his poetry to Muslims of sub-continent because they were suffering very badly and their faith was very weak. There are many of his poems directed to all the Muslims as well. I would request you to please remove the pessimistic approach to this subject and to this country. Prophet Muhammad S.A.W did not teach us to get disunited (or separated), he taught us to UNITE! And that are the teachings of Qur’aan as well. Thought, I totally agree that injustice has been done to Baluchistan in the past. The leaders were at fault, but I believe that your people gets a part of the burden of blame too. They themselves were partly responsible for their miserable treatment. They should have protested and demanded. The Baloch Maliks and Khans consumed everything the govt. provided them to support the Balochis. They get half of the blame too.
“Shajar hay firqa arayee, ta’assub hay samar iska
ye wo phal hay jo jannat se nikalwata hay adam ko”
“Khuda ne aaj tak us qaum ki haalat naheen badlee
na ho jisko khyal aap apni haalat ke badalne ka”
Geçen iki hafta silahlı unsurların Ravalpindi’deki ordu karargahına yönelik saldırılarına, Kahot ve Peşaver’deki patlamalara ve Lahor’daki polis binalarına yönelik eş zamanlı saldırılara şahit olduk. Aynı zamanda Amerikan yönetiminin Pakistan ordusunu Güney Veziristan’da başlatmaya sevk ettiği yakında yapılacak olan saldırı hazırlığına da şahit olduk. Bu gelişmeler bağlamında aşağıdaki hususlara dikkat çekmek isteriz:
1. Şüphesiz Zerdari rejimi, Veziristan’a yönelik bir saldırı yapılmasının gerekliliğini haklı çıkarmak için mevcut saldırıları kullanacaktır. Bu saldırı, Pakistan’ın güvenliği için değildir. Aksine bu saldırı, işgal edilen Afganistan’daki savaşında Amerika’nın yüzsuyunu korumak içindir.
2. Pakistan’da terörün tırmanması, bu güne kadar devam eden insansız Amerikan uçaklarının Pakistan topraklarına yönelik saldırılarını beraberinde getirmiştir. Zerdari rejimi tarafından tam destek verilen -bu saldırılar ile Veziristan’da bir savaşa girilmesinden- Amerika’nın maksadı, Pakistan’ı felç ederek Irak ve Afganistan’da olduğu gibi onu diğer bir Amerikan üssüne çevirmektir.
3. Hizb-ut Tahrir, masumların silahlı operasyonlarda katledilmesini ve ordunun kendi halkını öldürmesini kınar ve kınamaya da devam edecektir. Çünkü her iki durum da İslam’da haramdır:
وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا “Her kim bir mümini kasten öldürürse onun cezası, içinde ebediyen kalacağı Cehennemdir. Allah ona gazap etmiş, onu lanetlemiş ve onun için büyük bir azap hazırlamıştır.” [en-Nîsa 93]
Bu nedenle Amerika’nın hedeflerini gerekleştirmeye dönük ordunun saldırıları ve sivil noktalara yönelik silahlı operasyonlar olmak üzere her iki duruma da derhal son verilmelidir.
4. Ordu, Pakistan’ı parçalanmaktan korumak için Amerika’yı kovmalı ve bunun tek yolu ise Amerika’nın planlarına yakıt ikmali sağlayıp lojistik ve siyasi destek vererek Amerika’nın Pakistan’daki planlarının gerçekleşmesini kolaylaştırmak için elinden geleni yapan Zerdari gibi hain Pakistan yöneticilerini değiştirmektir.
5. Pakistan’da etki sahibi tüm muhlisleri, bu fasit Hükümete olan desteklerini geri çekmeye ve Pakistan’da İslami Hilafet’i kurmaya dönük yoğun çabalarında Hizb-ut Tahrir’e destek vermeye çağırıyoruz. Zira bu saldırılar ile karşılıklı saldırıları durdurmaya ve -ülkeyi gerçek düşmanı olan- bölgedeki Amerika ile müttefiklerine karşı birleştirmeye muktedir ve liderlik etmeye sahip olan sadece muhlis ve mucit bir Müslüman komutandır.
6. İngiltere’deki tüm Müslümanları Pakistan’ı Amerika’dan ve terörden kurtarmak için aşağıdaki hususlara davet eden kampanyamıza davet ediyoruz: a-Amerika’nın Pakistan’a yönelik planlarını durdurmaya. b-Sivillere yönelik silahlı operasyonları ve terörü durdurmaya. c-Veziristan’a yönelik kara saldırısı yoluyla Amerika’nın güvenliğini gerçekleştirmek için Pakistan ordusunun kullanılmasını durdurmaya. d-Zerdari rejiminin Amerika ile birlikte kurduğu komployu durdurmaya. e-Pakistan’a muhlis yeni bir liderlik getirecek olan Hilafet Devleti’nin kurulmasına destek vermeye. Hizb-ut Tahrir, önümüzdeki haftalarda Müslüman nesle yönelik bir dizi etkinlikler düzenleyecektir.
